Derry Township Municipal Authority (DTMA) has adopted a proactive approach to exceeding current and upcoming regulations with the goal of being good stewards to their community—both environmentally and fiscally. The Authority’s existing anaerobic digester produces biogas that is utilized in gas-to-electricity generators, offsetting a portion of the facility’s electrical demand. DTMA has taken the next step by integrating an Ecoremedy® Fluid Lift Gasification™ system with a conventional drying facility. The combined platform further reduces biosolids from the digester by approximately 95–96% by mass and volume. This is achieved through the patented Fluid Lift Gasification process, which converts the inherent energy in the biosolids into the Renewable Biosolids Energy (RBE™) required for drying. Once started, the system requires no external fuel sources. The process simultaneously destroys PFAS, microplastics, and pharmaceuticals to non-detectable levels while producing an inert residual byproduct—FLG Sand™—suitable for beneficial use applications comparable to construction sand.
The Ecoremedy system was installed in 2026.
